Chinese-Emirati Cooperation Brings Date Fruits to China

The successful experiment of planting Emirati date palms in inland areas of China, particularly in Wenzhou, Yunnan, and Sichuan, has resulted in the first harvest of 52 palm trees from eight different varieties within one year. These experiments demonstrate that date palm cultivation can succeed outside its traditional regions if suitable varieties are chosen and proper irrigation and pollination techniques are employed, with the potential for expansion into tropical and subtropical areas of China. Furthermore, the fruiting of some palms within just one year reflects a significant development, supporting the growth of the local date palm industry and strengthening confidence in its future.
