Striker barred from Fly Dubai flight in Oman

The Wall Street Journal reported that the co-pilot of Fly Dubai, who attacked the captain in an attempt to bring down the plane, had previously been banned from flying in Oman due to concerns over his adoption of extremist ideological beliefs. Current investigations are linking this attack to a terrorist act, with the Israeli Prime Minister describing the incident as an attempt to down the aircraft along with everyone on board. Analysts affirmed that the incident highlights a significant security failure, as the attacker’s motives should have been detected before reaching the airport, especially since investigations are ongoing in the UAE and Israel to determine whether the attacker acted alone or in coordination with others. The attacker was subdued, though the pilot sustained serious injuries, and interrogations of the crew are underway as investigations continue.
