Israeli courts clear Arab lists and fine Ben-Gvir

On Friday, the Israeli Supreme Court systematically invalidated the decisions of the Central Election Committee, which had excluded two Arab lists from participating in the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for October 27. In September, the committee announced its decision to disqualify these two lists due to allegations of denying Israel as a Jewish and democratic state or supporting armed actions against it. In response, the court upheld the candidacies of the two lists—the "Joint List," which includes parties with an Arab majority, and the "United Arab List," with a moderate Islamic orientation—and invalidated the candidacies of some individual members, including MK Ofer Kasif and Sami Abu Shhaddeh, due to their positions or remarks related to recent events. The committee also imposed a fine on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir after he posted a threatening video against a Palestinian detainee, deeming it a violation of campaign rules.
