Gaza Prefers Two-State Solution
Polls have shown that the majority of Palestinians, especially residents of Gaza Strip, favor a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, despite a decline in confidence in Palestinian leadership such as Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. This reflects a shift in Palestinian sentiment after years of war and destruction, during which the Gaza Strip is suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis, including widespread displacement, unemployment, and irregular access to food. Although support for armed resistance has waned, there remains a strong attachment to the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian state, with growing calls for comprehensive political change focused on security and reconstruction. The results indicate that Palestinians are seeking new political arrangements and lasting peace, although the prospects of establishing a state within the next five years appear slim due to expanding settlements and diminished trust in the current leadership.
