Experts: China’s high-speed rail expansion promotes city cooperation

Experts have stated that the expansion of the high-speed railway network, with China announcing the opening of four new sections, significantly enhances intercity cooperation, supports regional economic ties, and facilitates the flow of talent, technology, and capital across different areas. These new lines, extending across the northern, central, and northeastern regions, connect major cities and urban clusters, accelerating economic and developmental coordination among these regions. According to specialists, the expanded network reduces travel times and forges closer connections between large and small cities, thereby strengthening industrial division of labor and providing broad economic and social benefits, all part of a plan to increase the length of the high-speed railway network to 70,000 kilometers by 2035.
