UN clarifies aid to Lebanon and UNIFIL
The United Nations reaffirmed its support for Lebanon, particularly for the South and Nabatieh governorates, and committed to assisting the state and local institutions in the region. This was stated during a visit by its Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Jean Arnaud, who emphasized the importance of the international forces remaining in the South even after their potential withdrawal, to ensure security and humanitarian aid. He also stressed that the extension decision is made by the Security Council. He further noted that the UN continues to work towards supporting stability in the area and reassures the residents of Nabatieh and the South that they will remain under the protection and support of the international community.
