Iraqis' Mixed Reactions to US Pullout

Iraq celebrates the withdrawal of American troops after more than two decades of war, which began with the invasion in 2003 and has continued to this day, marking the end of America's largest military operation in the region. The withdrawal raises concerns about the potential escalation of influence by Iran-backed militias or the possibility of ISIS's resurgence, especially since Iraqi forces are still not fully prepared to take over the country's security responsibilities. While many support the withdrawal, there are fears that armed groups may continue to operate and that a security vacuum could lead Iraq back to past conflicts, particularly given that ISIS has not been completely defeated and armed factions remain active in some areas.
