Moroccan authorities have detained Tanja's mayor, Mounir Limary, for questioning over suspected electoral violations in favor of the Authenticity and Modernity Party. This followed circulating videos showing an individual holding electoral papers outside polling stations, where votes were cast for the party. Five other individuals, including polling station chiefs, have also been arrested. Additionally, the Ministry of Interior has sent a central inspection committee to the city to follow up on the case. The Authenticity and Modernity Party topped the election results with 97 seats out of 395, amid the lowest voter turnout in two decades at 39%. The country is now looking toward the appointment of a party figure to form the government for the upcoming term.
