Turkey introduces Avern AI platform

Turkey has launched the "Afrin" platform for national artificial intelligence (AI) with the aim of strengthening its technological independence and data sovereignty, particularly in the defense industries and technology sectors. The platform integrates data, AI models, and high-performance computing capabilities within Turkey, preventing sensitive data from being transferred outside the country. It offers 11 open-weight language models and enables full model training, as well as downloading, modifying, and hosting models locally. The number of active users has reached 7,500. The platform aims to develop Turkey's AI ecosystem and promote its use across various sectors, with plans to expand capabilities and localize models and data in the future.
