A Chinese company affiliated with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has begun constructing facilities for a large oil and gas project in Qatar valued at nearly $4 billion USD. The project is located in the "Bu Al-Hanin" field in Qatari waters in the Gulf and includes over 60 offshore installations, 40 pipelines and submarine cables, as well as modifications to existing facilities and the removal of outdated ones. This is the largest project of its kind in terms of technology and complexity among offshore oil and gas projects undertaken by a Chinese company to date. Its goal is to enhance China’s industrial competitiveness and strengthen international cooperation in oil and gas. The project is also expected to contribute to high-quality construction efforts within the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative. The company relied on advanced digital technologies to ensure efficient project execution and utilized its international experience, which includes more than 170 overseas projects from 2021 to 2025 in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Uganda, and Thailand.
