Al-Qulay'aat Airport expands Syrian access

Rene Mouawad Airport in Qlaiaat, northern Lebanon, is preparing to welcome an expanded travel movement starting in early October. The airport will be specially designated for Syrian travelers arriving and departing via a transit system, in coordination with the Syrian side. The plans include establishing a dedicated runway and lounges, with cooperation between Lebanon and Syria to facilitate the direct crossing of Syrians through the airport, without the need for Lebanese exit stamps on their passports. The initiative aims to enhance diplomatic and security coordination, as well as facilitate travel in the region, especially for citizens in the Syrian coast. It is expected that the airport’s first flights will be to Saudi Arabia.
