Somali pirates seize vessel near Yemen

Somali pirates hijacked an oil products tanker called "MT Cipu 1" off the coast of Yemen, 252 kilometers east of Al Mukalla, and took it toward the Puntland Somali coast. The vessel, which flies the Eritrean flag, was carrying a crew of 20 individuals of various nationalities. The nationalities of the crew members, as well as the port of departure and destination, have not yet been disclosed. This incident follows days after pirates seized another ship off the Somali coast, amid a surge in piracy activities in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
