German striker Volkroog re-joins Werder Bremen
German club Werder Bremen announced the return of forward Niklas Völkrug on loan from West Ham United. Völkrug is one of Bremen’s most notable former players, having started his career there in 2012 and contributed to the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga in 2022. He scored 49 goals in 124 appearances for Bremen. He later transferred to Borussia Dortmund and then to West Ham, but did not enjoy much success there, scoring only 3 goals in 29 matches. He has not been called up to the German national team since September 2025.
