Russia Claims Downing of 205 Ukrainian Drones

The Russian Ministry of Defense announces the downing of 205 Ukrainian drones over the western part of the country during the past night. These drones were primarily directed at the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Kaluga, Korsakov regions, as well as the Crimean Peninsula and the surrounding maritime areas. Since the beginning of 2026, Russian air defense systems have intercepted more than 100,000 Ukrainian drones, with the highest numbers recorded in July and June, during which 21,537 and 17,711 drones were shot down respectively. Russia continues to counter nearly daily drone attacks from Kyiv aimed at hampering its military operations and expanding control over Ukrainian territories using advanced weaponry.
