A new convoy, consisting of approximately 217 families from the camps in northern Syria, has set out towards their original areas in Idlib, Hama, and Damascus countryside, as part of the "Syria Without Camps" plan. This initiative aims to end internal displacement and dismantle displacement camps by 2027. The effort is carried out in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and humanitarian organizations, and constitutes part of the Syrian government’s efforts to improve logistical and service conditions for the return of internally displaced people to their homes. Since the beginning of the year, hundreds of families have been returned to their original areas, with around 174,000 families having returned since the start of 2024. It is estimated that the number of families in camps prior to December 2024 was about 266,000.
