International Astronomy Center reports four astronomical events

The sky worldwide saw important astronomical phenomena between August 12 and 13, 2026. The most prominent of these was a total solar eclipse visible from Siberia, Iceland, Greenland, parts of Northeast Atlantic, and Spain, lasting up to two minutes and 18 seconds in some areas. During this period, there will also be a meteor shower (the Perseids) with a peak of between 50 and 75 meteors per hour. The peak is expected to occur between 2 and 4 a.m. GMT, offering a good viewing opportunity from the Arab region before dawn. Regarding the rumors about planetary alignments, the Center clarified that there is no special planetary phenomenon on that day, and that planets are viewed normally along an orbital line known as the zodiac. Additionally, a lunar conjunction known as the lunar eclipse was observed; however, this is a normal event and not unusual, occurring simultaneously with the solar eclipse.
