Airbus readies for record-long flight

Airbus successfully conducted a test flight of its A350-1000 ULR aircraft between Toulouse and Melbourne, in preparation for the world's longest commercial flight between Sydney and London. This route will cover approximately 16,900 kilometers and last about 19 hours and 12 minutes. Qantas, which has ordered 12 of this model, plans to start the Sydney-London route six months after the first aircraft delivery in April 2027, to strengthen long-haul flights between Australia and the United Kingdom. The previous longest passenger commercial flight was between New York and Sydney, covering 16,200 kilometers, conducted in 2019.
