Ankara Highlights Montreux Convention on Straits

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the signing of the Montreux Convention, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the treaty remains one of the main guarantees of peace and security in the Black Sea. It preserves Turkey's sovereignty over the straits and allows warships to pass through the Bosporus and Dardanelles Straits, provided Turkey is notified 15 days in advance and the ships do not stay longer than 21 days.
