Macron: Leftist extremists plotted overthrow

French President Emmanuel Macron accused organized groups from the far-left of being responsible for the riots that occurred last Saturday, claiming that these groups attempted to overthrow the French Republic and that some of their attacks were planned, organized, and extremely serious. Macron announced a ban on unpermitted protests by unions in the coming days, with designated routes for organized marches to protect businesses and shops. He also indicated that investigations and arrests are ongoing, with thousands of detentions and hundreds of people held in detention centers, stressing the need for firm action against those responsible for acts of violence. Additionally, the government will continue dialogue with political and union forces and hold a broad meeting next week to discuss social and educational demands, especially those of young people. The decision to ban protests came ahead of planned demonstrations in various cities across France, including Lyon, in an attempt to control the escalating violence.
