Interior Ministry busts gold trafficking ring with 13 arrests
The Ministry of Interior succeeded in dismantling a criminal network involved in money laundering related to illegal gold. Over 70 kilograms of gold, 4.5 kilograms of silver, and four luxury cars valued at approximately 25 million dinars were seized, along with more than 120,000 dinars in cash. The operation resulted in the detention of 13 individuals accused of forming a conspiracy to commit crimes such as property assaults, fraud, and money laundering, using shell companies and fraudulent invoicing and procurement records. Investigations revealed that over six years, the network managed to launder nearly 2 tons of gold intended for melting, which they invested in real estate projects and luxury collectibles. The investigations are still ongoing.
