Iran claims drone shot down in Hormuz

The Iranian Armed Forces announced that the air defense systems shot down a U.S. drone of the "MQ-9" type in the Strait of Hormuz. This is the 54th drone of this type that Iran has brought down. The U.S. side has not issued any confirmation or denial regarding the incident. These events occur amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, following Washington and Israel's launch of a war against Iran last February. In response, Tehran carried out attacks on Israel and U.S. targets in the region. Meanwhile, Washington and Tehran attempted to negotiate maritime security in the strait, but these efforts collapsed due to disagreements over ensuring freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway.
