Nabil Assaf: Tunisia's talents can boost agriculture

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) emphasizes that Tunisia possesses the necessary skills and expertise in the agricultural sector, which can contribute to increasing production and enhancing food security, provided that these resources are effectively harnessed and appropriate conditions are established. FAO calls for the adoption of more efficient production patterns through modern technologies and innovation, encouraging youth participation and fostering integration between farmers and investors to boost productivity and promote sustainability in the sector. It highlights that international challenges include approximately 645 million people suffering from hunger and 2.1 billion experiencing food insecurity worldwide, which necessitates strengthening cooperation and investments to ensure the continuity and development of food production systems—especially amid climate change and conflicts that disrupt supply chains. FAO underscores the importance of innovation and partnership in achieving sustainable food security, emphasizing the vital roles of the private sector and governments in developing diverse and innovative agricultural systems to realize the goals of eradicating hunger and ensuring food security for all.
