September drug busts include large cannabis, cocaine, and pill seizures

During September, the Tunisian National Guard units managed to seize 110 parcels of hashish, 3 kilograms of cocaine, 25,000 drug pills, as well as 338 pieces of Zatla (cannabis resin). They also detained 1,515 individuals, including those with arrest warrants and persons fleeing from prison, among them individuals sentenced to 30 years for their involvement in drug trafficking. In an effort to combat the increasing drug-related crimes, Tunisia plans to amend Law No. 52 issued in 1992 to enhance efforts to counter smuggling and dismantle organized crime networks using modern communication technologies, according to official statements. Additionally, the Ministry of Family, Women, Childhood, and the Elderly has begun implementing the first phase of a national drug prevention program in cooperation with relevant authorities.
