Tunisian Man Dies in Cell Again

The Tunisian young man, Bassam Sulaimani, aged 22, died inside his cell at the Barcelona Busto Guto prison in Messina, Italy. He was detained on suspicion of killing a woman of Venezuelan origin, whose body was discovered by authorities last August. Preliminary information indicates that the death was due to suicide, occurring one day after the special monitoring system was lifted from him, as he had been experiencing psychological disorders during his detention. An investigation has been opened by the prosecution to determine the circumstances of the death, including the confiscation of the inmate's medical records and conducting an autopsy. Meanwhile, the investigations are focusing on the conditions that led to the lifting of surveillance and assessing its compatibility with his mental state, with no final results reached so far.
