Al-Sabah News: Supply Improve, Prices Drop
A report from the Béir Al-Qasā’ Central Market indicates an improvement in the supply of markets with vegetables, fruits, and fish since the beginning of the week. Record numbers have been recorded in supply quantities, reaching 1,370 tons of vegetables, 780 tons of fruits, and 123 tons of fish as of October 6, 2026, following a period of reduced production due to challenging weather conditions. Additionally, prices have gradually declined due to better climatic conditions and organized market policies, leading to price stability. There has also been a noticeable increase in supply from areas such as Sajjānān, Sbeiba, Gnooch, along with a shift toward winter fruits. This coincides with the start of the date harvest season, which boasts high-quality production. Authorities emphasized the importance of activating the principle of proximity between producers and markets, as well as organizing distribution channels. They also advocated for the adoption of transparency systems like electronic invoicing to ensure product traceability and reduce price manipulation. A message was directed to farmers to work within organized markets to achieve a balance between the interests of producers and consumers.
