New guide offers simple steps for cleaner air for kids

The Ministry of Health and the National Risk Assessment Agency have issued a guide on indoor air quality in institutions that host children, aiming to protect their health and improve their learning environments. The guide is based on simple, low-cost measures such as regular ventilation of spaces, monitoring humidity levels, choosing cleaning products and furniture that emit fewer pollutants, banning smoking inside these institutions, and appointing a dedicated person responsible for monitoring air quality and training staff to identify risks. Legal texts and tender documents are planned to implement these recommendations, along with increased oversight and awareness campaigns. The Ministry believes that protecting children includes ensuring the quality of the air they breathe in schools, homes, and daycare centers.
