Medenine elderly man's AIDS-related death

An epidemiological and health investigation has been launched regarding the death of an elderly man, approximately 90 years old, at the Medenine Hospital. His condition worsened following a surgical procedure to remove gallstones, and he ultimately died due to a weakened immune system and declining health. Scientific analyses confirmed that the infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV/AIDS) was present prior to his hospital admission. It is unlikely that the infection was transmitted within the hospital, given that HIV infection typically develops over years before symptoms appear. Authorities also emphasized that sterilization procedures and blood transfusions in Tunisia have followed strict protocols since 1989. The results of the investigation will be announced after the completion of the inquiry into the circumstances of his death.
