Global observed World Teachers' Day
Today, Monday, October 5th,, the international community celebrates World Teachers' Day, commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO and International Labour Organization recommendation in 1966 concerning the conditions of teachers. This year's celebration focuses on reevaluating the challenges facing the teaching profession, including the lack of recognition of teachers' value, limited professional autonomy, and their poor living conditions resulting from salaries and working circumstances. The event features high-level discussions on protecting and promoting teachers' rights, as well as the presentation of the UNESCO-Hamdan Award for Teacher Capacity Development, alongside a review of emerging challenges such as digital technologies, climate change, and migration, all of which impact teachers' status and their professional and material conditions.
