Kairouan recovers 5.3 tons of rotten tomatoes
The National Food Safety Authority in Kairouan successfully seized and destroyed 5.3 tons of fresh tomatoes unfit for consumption due to spoilage, mold, and foul odors, prior to their distribution within 24 hours, in coordination with judicial authorities. The oversight operations also included around 130 inspections and 63 health assessments, along with the issuance of 10 warnings. Two bakeries were closed for failing to adhere to proper hygiene practices, all aiming to protect consumer health. The Authority urged citizens to remain vigilant when purchasing products and warned against buying items that show signs of spoilage.
