Gabes to lead 98,000 tons pomegranate forecast

It is expected that Tunisia's pomegranate production for the 2026 season will reach approximately 98,000 tons, marking an 8% increase compared to 2025. A significant concentration is seen in the Gafsa governorate, which produces around 17,000 tons, followed by Bizerte, Nabeul, and Kairouan. Collectively, these regions account for more than 65% of the national production. Pomegranates are cultivated over an area of approximately 10,472 hectares, with more than 95% of these being irrigated farms. Tunisia is considered an important country in pomegranate production and export, thanks to the diversity of regions and the quality of its varieties.
