Kairouan Plans 54,000 Hectares of Grain for 2026
The Kairouan Governorate continues its preparations for the 2026/2027 agricultural season. Approximately 54,000 hectares of cereals are scheduled for cultivation, including 29,000 hectares of irrigated land. The irrigated areas are distributed between 20,000 hectares of durum wheat and 8,900 hectares of barley, along with limited areas of soft wheat. To implement the season effectively, about 38,000 quintals of seeds have been allocated—comprising 33,000 quintals of durum wheat and 5,000 quintals of barley—and the collection centers have begun receiving supplies to ensure compliance with the season's requirements.
