Qemta School postpones classes

A number of students and parents from Gouta School in Bizerte staged a protest following a technical decision made last August to close the elementary school, whose walls and classrooms have been deteriorating after 69 years of service. Despite warnings from parents and educational staff, temporary facilities suitable for the students were not prepared during the repair works, leading to protests and the blocking of the road between Bizerte and Sijouan. The Bizerte governor, Salim Bin Yaqoub, intervened and announced the postponement of the start of the school year until suitable classroom spaces are set up in the courtyard of the old school, in order to provide proper conditions for teaching and learning.
