Tunisia plans drug law reforms

Tunisia intends to amend its 1992 Drug Law to address the increasing activity of organized crime networks and their exploitation of modern technologies. The amendment aims to enhance anti-smuggling tools and dismantle criminal networks by adopting new mechanisms such as interception of communications and hacking, in order to provide more effective legal tools to combat this phenomenon. This comes after the last partial amendment in 2017, which granted the judiciary discretionary authority but did not alter the strict penalties for traffickers and smugglers.
