The African Football Confederation (CAF) has decided to implement the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology for the first time in the group stage of the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup, starting from the group stage which kicks off on November 26 and 27. Currently, the use of VAR technology is limited to the Champions League due to high costs. The project has entered advanced stages of preparations and equipment, relying on European companies to provide technicians and technology. The possibility of using full VAR equipment or a more affordable version has not yet been decided, in order to address transportation and customs challenges between African countries. It is worth noting that the Tunisian teams, Club Africain and Espérance Sportive de Tunis, will participate in these tournaments.
