The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries has launched an in-depth study to implement a floating photovoltaic system at Sidi Bel Abbes Dam, aiming to reduce evaporation and water losses. This initiative is part of the technical cooperation project "Identifying Innovative Technologies to Improve Water Resource Management amid Water Scarcity" (TECH-EAU). The study seeks to explore the potential for clean energy production and surface water coverage to decrease its exposure to sunlight and wind, thereby helping to reduce evaporation rates and promote the sustainability of water resources. Sidi Bel Abbes Dam, the largest in Tunisia and commissioned in 2000, is one of the key facilities supplying water to the agricultural sector and balancing water resources in the region. The success of this modern technology will be evaluated there, with the goal of expanding its application to other suitable facilities.
