Tunisia’s Olive Oil Exports Face Oversight Challenges

Tunisian olive oil represents an important source of income, as exports saw a significant increase during the 2025-2026 season. However, over 80% of these revenues come from the export of bulk oil, which is sold at lower prices—up to about 3.25 dinars per kilogram—compared to packaged oil. The price difference theoretically suggests that Tunisia could generate an additional approximately 1.2 billion dinars if a larger portion of the bulk oil were converted into packaged products through bottling and marketed under a Tunisian brand.
