WhatsApp tests unified contacts tab
WhatsApp is working on developing a new contacts tab on the Android system aimed at making it easier to access people. It combines the contacts list, status updates, birthday reminders, and an option to invite friends, along with a shortcut to chat with Meta AI. The update, currently being tested in a beta version, includes a search function by name, number, or username to quickly organize and filter contacts, displaying those who are currently connected with a green dot without overriding privacy settings. The tab also automatically integrates birthday reminders based on data stored on the phone and allows inviting friends who are not yet using the app. Additionally, it provides quick access to Meta AI assistant. The feature is still in development, and an official release date for users has not yet been announced.
