Lexar has announced an ultra-slim portable storage device called the Muse Ultra-Slim Portable SSD. It is considered the smallest and thinnest in the world, measuring just 3.8 millimeters thick at the center and tapering down to one millimeter at the edges. Designed for content creators who need compact and flexible external storage, its structure is made from a single piece of aluminum metal and employs NAND flash stacking technology to maximize capacity within a small size. Instead of a traditional USB-C port, it uses a magnetic connector based on Pogo Pins, reducing component size and minimizing the need for cables and external interference. The drive is capable of storing 4K video files with read speeds up to 1050 MB/s and write speeds reaching 1 GB/s. It allows direct recording of Apple ProRes videos onto the external drive without consuming internal phone storage. The device is compatible with iPhones equipped with USB-C ports, starting from the iPhone 15 series. Aimed at improving shooting and backup workflows, it supports the Lexar App for automatic backups. The Muse Ultra-Slim SSD is expected to be available in 512GB and 1TB capacities before the end of 2026.
