Wenger as a contender to challenge Infantino

A report indicates that Arsène Wenger, the former Arsenal coach, is considered a potential contender to compete with Gianni Infantino for the presidency of FIFA in the 2027 elections. This comes amid a crisis within FIFA due to a controversial project to sell shares of its commercial rights to private investors, which has been met with broad opposition from continental federations and global football officials. Despite his strong connections and international reputation, especially in Africa and Asia, his chances of running depend on his readiness to face Infantino, particularly since a man associated with FIFA is likely to stand against him. Wenger, who generally dismisses sports politics, is currently focused on talent development programs and academies, but questions remain about his political capacity to run a robust campaign for fundamental leadership changes within FIFA.
