English Football: Most Clubs in Deficit

An independent football regulatory body in England has revealed that 94% of clubs in the top five divisions are experiencing financial losses, with many at risk of bankruptcy if their owners stop supporting them. The body recommended tightening spending controls and mandating clubs to develop emergency plans to promote financial sustainability, warning against over-reliance on owner funding, which has led to rising debts and endangered clubs and fans. The study indicates that two-thirds of clubs in the Premier League and the National League are facing financial difficulties, with the Premier League working to distribute revenues in a more sustainable manner and negotiating with the association on a new revenue-sharing agreement to ensure club financial stability.
