Qinling Mountains dominate Beijing cycling
Chinese player Jing Qinwen won the International Tournament in Beijing, marking her first WTA 1000 title. She claimed victory over Russian Mira Andreiva in the final with scores of 7-5 and 6-4. The match lasted one hour and 43 minutes, and she benefited from a wildcard entry granted by the tournament organizers. Qinwen becomes the first Chinese player to win the Beijing 1000-point event since its inception in 2004. The title signifies her return to top-level form after recovering from elbow surgery and overcoming inconsistent results last year. She previously ranked as high as No. 4 worldwide sixteen months ago but fell out of the top hundred after a period of fluctuating performances. However, she has regained her form, reached the 2024 final, and secured her sixth career title. Andreiva, who reached her first final since winning the French Open, will climb to No. 3 in the world rankings, the highest position of her career.
