Social media users in Qatar circulated news about the organization of the "Power Slap" tournament for the first time in Doha on November 19th. This sparked widespread controversy and criticism regarding its appropriateness concerning the society's principles and values. Critics argued that the tournament tarnishes the country's reputation and promotes behavior that is offensive and culturally unacceptable. They expressed concerns that such events could become a regular occurrence and adversely influence the younger generations, warning that these activities are not truly about sports or entertainment but rather harm human dignity and safety. They called for preventing the hosting of such events, which conflict with Qatar's religious and social values.
