Zidane: No pride or regret over Materazzi incident
France’s head coach, Zinedine Zidane, stated that he does not feel regret over his famous headbutt on Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final, despite it being one of the most controversial moments of his sports career. Zidane said he considers that incident to be part of his journey and has no regrets about it, acknowledging that it remains a memorable and frequently replayed moment. However, he chooses to focus on the positive aspects of his career. He added that moment was difficult, especially since he never expected to become a coach afterward. He also takes pride in being present at the Stade de France, where today’s match against Italy will be played in front of around 80,000 spectators— a symbolic return to the place where he made his last appearance as a player.
