Mahrez Nears New Club Deal
Ryad Mahrez, the 35-year-old Algerian winger, is currently in the process of signing a contract with Al Shamal SC in Qatar after leaving Al-Ahli Saudi FC three months ago. Although he announced his retirement from international play this summer following the 2026 World Cup, he continues his club career, with reports indicating that he will sign with Al Shamal to join his fellow Algerian Baghdad Bounedjah. Mahrez has a distinguished record, having won five English Premier League titles—four with Manchester City and one with Leicester City—as well as lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy with Manchester City. The Qatari club competes in the AFC Champions League and aims to benefit from Mahrez's extensive experience following his successes in Europe and the Arab world.
