The legend of Japanese baseball, Isao Harimoto, has passed away at the age of 86. He set a record for the most hits in Japan's history with 3,085, and achieved extraordinary accomplishments including 504 home runs and 319 stolen bases. He is the only player in the Japanese baseball league to have accumulated more than 500 home runs and 300 stolen bases. Born in Hiroshima in 1940 to Korean parents, he survived the atomic bombing that destroyed the city in 1945, losing one of his sisters and sustaining deep burns on his hand; he was forced to bat left-handed due to injuries to his fingers. After retiring in 1981, he contributed to the launch of the South Korean baseball league and began a career as a sports commentator, leaving an exceptional legacy that embodies overcoming adversity and securing numerous individual and team titles.
