Qatar has adopted a new, investment-oriented approach in Lebanon, moving away from temporary aid. It announced its intention to invest in infrastructure and vital facilities, particularly in the energy sector, through long-term projects based on a public-private partnership system (BOT). The plans include building new power plants and upgrading the electrical grid, with an initial allocation of $800 million, subject to increase. Ownership of these facilities is expected to transfer to Lebanon later, after the investment period, which ranges from 15 to 20 years. Additionally, Qatar expressed its readiness to contribute to the reconstruction of damaged areas in coordination with the United States, aiming to provide strategic investments that promote Lebanon’s stability and revive its economy. Despite regional challenges, Qatar maintains broad and balanced relations with various Lebanese parties to strengthen its presence and ensure the sustainability of its projects.
