Bree: Lebanon remains under restrictions

Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri stated that the repeal of the 1955 law banning the boycott of Israel will not be passed in the parliamentary council, amidst American pressures urging its repeal. He affirmed that Lebanon's stability is everyone's responsibility and that the country has not yet escaped sectarian tensions and the reckless division of regions. He called on all parties to halt internal escalation. This comes at a time of heightened Israeli escalation, which complicates the peace negotiation process. Lebanese officials have rejected forming a bilateral committee between the Lebanese and Israeli armies, and there are warnings that the confrontation could spill over into street clashes.
