Protests Halt French Parliament Budget Talks
The parliamentary blocs in the French Parliament refused to hold sessions on October 24 and 25 due to security concerns over potential protests near the Parliament building, despite the government's desire to continue discussing the social security budget. Some blocs cited security threats as the reason, while others argued that the numerous amendments reduce the usefulness of the sessions. These disagreements come amid calls from the "Yellow Vests" movement to organize widespread protests, following large demonstrations that involved clashes and vandalism. As a result, the government may reconsider its plan to hold sessions over the weekend, while security tensions persist ahead of anticipated protests in France.
