Metri details Israel's goal against Hezbollah

The statements by Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Metri reveal the complexity of the Lebanese issue. He confirmed that Lebanon still faces obstacles in advancing negotiations with Israel, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces, restricting arms to the state, and the prisoner and international aid dossier. While the Lebanese side agreed on a gradual Israeli withdrawal, this agreement has not yet been implemented, and Israel has refused to allow the Red Cross to visit Lebanese prisoners. The statements also indicated that Israel sought to use negotiations to declare an alliance against Hezbollah, and that Lebanon remains caught between Israel's conditions and the demands of the party. There has been no progress on controlling weapons and resolving the prisoners' issue, while external support is contingent upon achieving political and security reforms.
