Macron Urges Calm Before France Protests

French President Emmanuel Macron called for calm ahead of widespread protests scheduled for Saturday, protesting against the rising cost of living. There are concerns that the protests could turn violent, increasing tensions in the country. Authorities have prohibited demonstrations in the heart of Paris before the presidential elections scheduled for April and May. The "Yellow Vest" movement and students are calling for participation, with an estimated 200,000 people expected to join across France, including 40,000 in Paris. Macron emphasized the importance of respecting the right to protest while maintaining peace and safety. The authorities anticipate possible disturbances and acts of violence, especially in major cities, after a new app was launched providing information on police deployment and tear gas usage. The French government has urged restraint and affirmed its readiness to deploy security measures if violence occurs.
